Vincent is a very naughty, self-centered, disrespectful, critical egg who creates havoc in a peaceful and happy community.  He is in need of social graces and has no tolerance for the differences of others.  He ridicules and criticizes those not as splendid as he.  His perfect shell cracks a bit with every unkind act and cruel word; it brings about a conscience and self recrimination.

Once humbled and forgiven, Vincent Von Egg's pearl-like shell is restored except for one crack - a constant reminder to be humble, gracious, loving and unconditionally tolerant of others.
